Our stay was perfect. The layout of the house provides plenty of privacy and was stocked with everything we needed. The view from the lanai is absolutely beautiful.Perfect way to start the day watching the sunrise .The hot tub on the lanai was perfect for relaxing after a full day of swimming and sightseeing.A perfect spot for watching the sunset.Did not have an issue with bugs as the house is clean and well maintained. Will stay here again if we visit Kona again. Was very sad to have to leave.Thank you Bob and Emmy for sharing your beautiful home.
We had a really enjoyable staying at the house. Everything was clean, nice and very well setup. Staying here made the Big Island experience so much better. We would love to stay here again if we ever visit the island again. The sunsets were totally spectacular, and the experience of being able to enjoy the view from our own backyard was amazing. -M.S
We celebrated our 40th wedding anniversary with our family in this beautiful home. This was our first trip to Hawaii. The location was perfect and the home had plenty of room for the 5 of us. A special treat was seeing dolphins and sea turtles from the lanai! We highly recommend this rental.
First the positives: It's got a gorgeous view of the water, there is snorkeling right up the street, it's a short drive to Kailua town where all the great local food is found. Unfortunately, there were a couple of things that were deal breakers for us and we ended up moving to a hotel on our 3rd day. The Big Island has a lot of bugs. We know this and we understand that the owners are doing pest control--there are lots of dead bugs inside and outside to prove it. However, due to the home's age/condition, there were still a lot of bugs that made their way into the house and killing several flying cockroaches our first night there along with lots of other flying bugs, ant trails, and others, made our family too uncomfortable. We don't mind the geckos and praying mantises and other friendly critters, but cockroaches landing on the nightstand when you are about to go to sleep was just too much. Secondly, it was HOT. The mornings were nice if you had all the windows open and with the portable a/c units in the bedrooms, the bedrooms are cool for sleeping (though they are loud). But the bathrooms and common areas (kitchen, living, etc.) by the afternoon and into the evening were very hot and humid even with all the windows open. When it's 85 degrees with 65% humidity like it was when we were there, opening all the windows didn't really make a difference. We pulled the fans out of the bedrooms and had them pointing directly at us as we sat at the kitchen table. We were really looking forward to our stay but unfortunately only lasted a few days before we were able to get moved over to a hotel. Obviously, these issues were not a problem for some other families who stayed here. For us, we prefer to vacation to be a little more comfortable and a little less like camping. During cooler times of the year maybe the heat and bugs may not be as much of an issue but the first week in May was challenging. We did let the owners know when we were moving to the hotel and they felt they were addressing the bug issue already by having pest control. We write this review not out of any negative feelings as we had an amazing vacation at the hotel we stayed at and still got to enjoy all the tasty local food. But we felt it was important to let other families know what they might expect in case they would be uncomfortable with the bugs and heat/humidity like we were.
We feel disappointed that our vacation home did not meet the expectations of these guests. Hawaii is a warm tropical island, with an average temperature of 82F. It averaged 81F during the week they were in Kona, and it was windy that week. There are A/C units in all the bedrooms. There are 6 ceiling fans in the main living area, and sliding doors that allow the ocean breeze to nicely pass through the house. The ceilings are 16 feet tall with windows at the top for ventilation. Like any lush tropical island, Hawaii has insects. We use environmentally safe controlled spray methods weekly, because guests are often barefoot and kids crawl on the floors. The afternoon rains rinse away outdoor bug spray. Our vacation home has been providing vacationers great memories for many years. Look at other reviews from other guests, they all liked our house. We do our best to serve our guests. Emmy & Bob
Loved the house, we had our two Granddaughters and went with another couple so it was perfect we all had our own bathrooms. We saw whales & Dolphins from the lanai, great view.
Thank you so much for the great review. I hope you will come back to us in the future. We are continue to improve our house it will be better when you return. :) Emmy
WHAT A WONDERFUL VACATION WE HAD. YOUR HOME WAS VERY GRACIOUS AND HAD EVERYTHING THAT WE NEEDED. WHAT A VIEW, YOU JUST WANT TO STAY OUTSIDE AND WATCH THE BOATS, SUNSETS, SCUBA DIVERS, ETC. THE SUNSETS WERE AMAZING. CLOSE TO ALL SHOPPING, DINING. WE TOOK OUR 85 YEAR OLD MOTHER FOR HER FIRST TIME TO HAWAII AND THE HOME WAS PERFECT FOR HER, NO STAIRS AT ALL FOR SHE WALKS WITH A WALKER, SHE HAD THE TIME OF HER LIFE AND WE WOULD LIKE TO THANK YOU FOR LETTING US EXPERIENCE THIS WITH OUR MOTHER. PERFECT PROPERTY, WE WILL BE BACK. ALOHA: LOUIS & WANDA
The house was nice but the location and experience was FANTASTIC!! Wow , the lanai and the view. We spent all our meals were on the lanai. We. Had one rainy overcast day and that was the day we had multiple pods of spinner Dolphins frolicking in front of us and the whales were out too. We have concluded that the Big Island is our favorite with Kauai as # 2 we finished our week at Hale Alii were off to Maui. You have to visit the farmers market. Great deals on avocados and we now are sold on apple bannanas. The Kitchen was very well equipped with quality pots & pans. We really appreciated the spice cabinet. We can't wait to go back. My only wish is it was closer to town so we could walk to the farmers market. Minor wish.
The house was amazing. We walked to the beach multiple times to snorkel and swim while there seeing sea turtles twice. The view of the ocean was breathtaking. We spent many evenings watching the sunset over the Pacific ocean. The house description is an accurate reflection of the house. It was very roomy and I would recommend this house to others.
We stayed here with our family (which we are 5) and with my husbands brother and his wife. We all loved the location of this house and the comfort. Even with 7 of us in this house everyone had space to move around. The house is well located to all the sites there are to see. And we found the beach up the road to be some of the best snorkeling in the area. We all really enjoyed watching the sun go down on the fabulous deck. Thanks so much for the experience.
Wow, what an amazing home! The owners really go the extra mile to make sure your experience is the best it can be. Their hospitality is off the charts! Most importantly, their home has everything that you could possibly need. From beach towels to spices they have provided it all. The best part of the stay was the ability to walk right outside the back lanai and jump into the crystal blue water. We are talking private access to your own reef. The next best thing was slipping into a bubbly spa and watching a Hawaiian sunset while sipping on a glass of wine. The house is close to town where the farmer's market, restaurants, and shopping is close by. Target and Costco are also within 10 minutes. Everywhere, with the exception of the drive to the waterfalls, was close by. We really had a wonderful time and wished we could have stayed longer. We will definitely be coming back and staying there again. I highly recommend this property to anyone looking for the whole nine yards!
This home has an truly amazing view of the ocean that we enjoyed from the outdoor dining table at every opportunity. The lanai is bigger than most of the other houses in the area, but it's not a good place to enter the ocean (the surf and rocks makes it dangerous). We stayed with friends and our toddler and the home was perfect. Everyone had their own ample bedroom space and the home was great for a young child - they even had a pack and play for us to use. The kitchen and linen closet were well-stocked with the necessities and when we had an issue with the oven not working, they responded promptly and generously offered compensation. While the home is starting to show minor wear and tear, we still think it's a 5* stay and would return again. The location is great: it's a 5 minute walk to great snorkeling (rocky beach), a 10 minute walk to White Sands Beach, a mile from the grocery store, and 4 miles from downtown Kona. We loved it and were sad to leave!
We stayed at the Alii Hale for six nights with our New Zealand friends. The house is clean, bright, spacious (plenty of privacy for two couples) and well-equipped, about 4-1/2 miles south of Kona town (Kailua). You can easily walk to some of the best snorking in the Hawaiian Islands, at Kahalu'u Beach Park, before the crowds arrive at mid-morning! The hot tub was a special treat under the stars at night. A great home base for exploring the Big Island--easy driving distance to Captain Cook's Monument (more spectacular snorking) and the Place of Refuge to the South, and Kohala resorts to the north. The only downside was that we couldn't figure out how to set the air conditioning to operate for more than two hours at night without being reset. Other than that, it worked great--there also are ceiling fans throughout, and the waterfront master bedroom had a great Kona cross-breeze through windows on two sides. This is a lovely, well-kept house in a premier location, and a good value for all the space and amenities.
Three couples stayed here for 90 days in February. We had a great time. The house is just as pictured and described here. Lots to watch from the beautiful lanai ocean waves, sunset, surfers in the bay. We made all our own meals and the kitchen had everything needed. We especially appreciated the responsiveness of the owner -- a minor plumbing problem arose while we were there and Eric had a plumber out to fix it in less than an hour. Highly recommended.
Thank you ! Great Review Most important is that guests have great memories here. Eric & Debra Geller owners/Managers
We love this place. It is clean, big and comfortable, especially, the patio that is facing to the ocean. You can go down to the ocean from the patio to go snorkeling or fishing. We enjoyed a lot when we were having our meals at the table on the patio. The weather there is also great, no wind, no rain compare to the other size of island. There also a lot of towels, dining wares, cooking tools and ect… I knock off 1 star just because it’s a little noisy in the bed rooms because it sits just beside a busy street. I could’t fall asleep again once I woke up in the early morning. Maybe I was too sensitive, and it might not be a problem for other people. Overall, this is great place to stay for 6 or 8 people in Big Island. I would recommend it to my friends, and I will come back to this place again if I visit Kona in the future.
Our family enjoyed a week of fun activities and lots of relaxing time together in this lovely oceanfront home. We cooked most dinners there because of my active and early-to-bed grandson. The sound of crashing waves was entertainment each evening. Great location. The house was clean and comfortable, owners very helpful. All in all it was a great value for our family week together.
Thank you for the great review Eric & Debra
Our family vacation was fantastic due to having a beautiful, comfortable home to come to each night. The three bedrooms gave everyone their own space and to have three bathrooms was great. Fully supplied for cooking, along with items for the beach, towels, mats and an umbrella. The lenai was a nice place to have your morning coffee and to have evening conversations. The Hot Tub was such and added feature we indulged every night. The view was Hawaii perfect, waves, lava, palm tree, surfers and unforgettable sunsets. We would recommend this to any family and hope to return.
This home is perfect in so many ways. The owners have done upgrades inside and out. The new master bedroom suite is just like you would find in a 5 star resort. The second master suite (also a king bed) is ideal for two couples travelling together. This home has everything you could possibly need and more. There are ample supplies of soap, paper products, linens, laundry products, spices and cooking supplies. We enjoy our evening's barbquing out back, listening to the waves and watching incredible sunsets. It is conveniently located close to a snorkel beach, surfing, paddle boarding and a plaza with a grocery store, drug store and restaurants. This trip we were greeted many mornings with spinner dolphins and turtles right off the property. We will be back and hopefully soon!!
This property was extremely comfortable for the two couples. The double master suites were excellent. Still had room for another couple! If you like to cook, you can be in heaven here. We use VRBO homes and condo's a lot and I'm not sure I have ever had such nice cookware and accessories. The view is breathtaking, great location and fabulous sunsets every night. The photos shown probably don't do justice to the home. It was clean, orderly, well stocked. Our only complaint was the "air conditioning". Not sure the bedroom units should really be considered air conditioning as a whole - they worked okay but were a little noisy. The beach just down the road has fabulous snorkeling, the restaurants in town were great and reasonably priced. Overall big thumbs up!!
Beautiful Home lots of upgrades, well maintained, spectacular ocean front large patio with a Jacuzzi we enjoyed evryday. Great to wake up to a spectacular Ocean view. I love to grille so got carried away and did it for breakfast, lunch & dinners. I am originally from Kona, My family still lives here, unfortunately we were their because my Dad recently had a stroke. They stayed with us & enjoyed the place very much. My family enjoyed fishing off the reef everyday. Looking forward to going back with my Grandkids as they too love the ocean and fishing. Awesome Property, priced right!! I reccommend it for Tourist and Locals of all ages Looking forward for my next visit hope to get away soon!!
A girlfriend and I stayed a week at this wonderful house. Although it was a bit too big for just the two of us, it was great to throw a case of Kona in the fridge before heading out on one of our many adventures. Hiking the Waipio valley to the waterfall was probably my favorite. The house was classic beach Hawaii kitch with many upgrades. The bamboo area mat was offset by a flat screen TV and upscale fixtures. I recommend this separate, quiet, family home for any traveler. View is magnificent- location is beach bum friendly. Locals are super knowledgable. Mahalo.
My family and I have stayed in this house 4 times so far and we have yet to be disappointed. We have stayed in this home before and after the upgrades and it has always been amazing. The view is out of this world and no matter how many times you see it you'r always in awe. It is a great family rental and the location is close to everything. I am a big adventure seeker and the fact that the ocean is right in my backyard and I can jump right in just makes it that much better. Ps. I hope to go again very soon.
Hello Mr. Kassab Thanks for your support. Even more that your family keeps on returning. Mahalo! Eric Geller
My Friend and I came to this wonderful home in May. First of all you open the door to this house and right away you are looking at the Pacific Ocean . The view will take your breath away. The lanai alone will make you never want to leave the house. The kitchen is fully stocked with everything you could possibly need . The rooms large and spacious. The beds quite cozy for sleeping off all the adventures that the day brought. The house was very clean and we had no problems with bugs of any kind . I would recommend this house to anyone. Infarct I have recommended this house to many of my clients and family members looking to stay at a house in Hawaii . I hope to be able to come back to this wonderful house again and again.
Once again we hear how nice the Alii Hale accomadations are. Truly a great beach home in every way. Located next to the best snorkel beach, and close to all activites. We love having guests who are happy. Mahalo, and hope to see you holiday here again.
Great Location close to Childrens beach. House is in desperate need of repair and basic maintenance as well as an upgrade in decor. We fought spiders 2" plus in size, got three of them and got bit by one of them! Cracked tiles, wall board exposed and stained mats on floors House could afford an upgrade for the price of the rent. Family was great and we decided to enjoy ourselves inspite of the deteriorated property.
We are sorry to hear our guest was unhappy. However, I do not feel the evaluation was not completely accurate. Our beach home is on the ocean and is well maintained by two friendly professional managers. The home went through a major remodel including: granite counters, cabinets ,appliances, beds, bathrooms, walls, travertine floor tiles skylights and hurricane shutters. Next upgraded were linens (100% cotton 360 thread count) oil paintings, plants, 3 flatscreen tv's, toilets, faucets, furniture, ceiling fans, bedroom air conditioning, spa on the lanai with ocean front lighting....over $140,000 was spent. The State beach is 14 homes away where you can snorkel with the turtles. Approximately one mile away is a shopping center a major Hawaiian market, Cinemas, restaurants & drug store. Four miles the other direction is the town of Kona. Keep in mind the Hawaiian Islands are in the tropics, sometimes there are Cane spiders typical of the island. We have lowered our rent considerably to address the lagging economy. It sleeps 6-8 comfortable for two families. We hope you enjoy your stay with us. Let us know if there's anything we can for you. Mahalo, The Owners
We loved this house! The view alone was worth every penny. We had Kona coffee on the lanai every morning and watched whales spouting and diving. The jacuzzi was divine..especially watching the sunsets. Central to everything, super clean and comfortable. Great customer service from manager and owners. We will definitely be booking again!
Aloha We pride ourselves are providing excellent customer service. Our guests do become repeat vacationers year after year. This home Alii Hale has it all LOCATION, AMENITIES, ALL FOR A AFFORDABLE PRICE. Come stay and play with us soon. Mahalo, Mary Lou
