Our family stayed here for a week. Great house, great location 5 mins to town, beaches , Walmart etc, awesome views, awesome pool , great Lani area & cool breezes. A lot cooler than downtown Kona. House very good layout, very clean and spotless when arrived. Kitchen fully kitted out and bedrooms & bathrooms had everything you would expect. Emmy and Bob are very easy to deal with. 5 stars for our stay!
The home was very spacious and for 8 adults staying for 5 nights. The house has everything required from quality towels and bathroom accessories to BBQ outside for cooking. After the sight seeing all day, we came back home to chill out on the big Lanai watching the sunset or relax by the pool. Loved our time at the house and Emmy and Bob made everything happen and always available to ask for helper anything. Thank you!
We were very happy with this house. The upstairs kitchen is very spacious and well equipped, with granite counters, a huge island, a walk-in pantry, and even a built in coffee maker. There is a separate kitchen downstairs, which is smaller, but still has a full sized refrigerator, electric range, and dishwasher. We ate all of our meals on the lania, which has plenty of room. The lanai is under a roof which offers shade from the tropical sun. The view from the lanai is nice. There is a big pool, with a waterfall, and a hot tub. The location is great, and we could access groceries, restaurants, shopping, etc. as well as the ocean, all within a few minutes drive. We enjoyed our stay in this house, and highly recommend it.
This house exceeded our expectations in everyway. It is nicer and more spacious than the photos led us to believe. The main kitchen is very nice and the house has an open design so that the kitchen, living room, and even the lanai (balcony) are one big area. We ate dinner on the lanai everyday while watching the sun set. We had a big group, so the teenagers stayed downstairs in the two bedroom ohana, while the younger kids loved sleeping together in the bunkroom. We loved the pool, and relaxing in the hot tub. We hope to return soon.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this well maintained and appointed home. Beautiful and Large whole house. We had 3 sets of adult couples and 4 tall teen boys ( ages 13-18 ). Never felt crowded. Meals on the large lanai with great view and sunsets to die for. The pool was vital as there is not central AC. Most island homes do not have it, I just don't get that. We were there end of July and it was hot of course. We could not get the house to cool down in the evening unless we opened the front doors, but with no screen doors, that let in mosquitoes. Only the master bedroom in the main house has AC unit. The other family members had trouble sleeping due to the heat . The owners do provide floor fans, that helps some. If every bedroom had AC I would give this home 6 Stars! The owners always answered my phone calls and were very nice and accommodating. House is very close to great beaches and other venues ( Sea Horse Farm, Coffee farm tour, KONA BREWERY!) Highly recommend this property, even with heat issue.
Thank you Emma and Bob for the chance to stay in this wonderful home. It was very updated and nice and extremely comfortable for our family of 6 . The kids enjoyed every minute of the pool and hot tub . The location was perfect ! Having beach towels , chairs , boogie boards, and cooler there was a huge plus for us when going to the beaches, thanks for having things like that available for our use. Hope to visit again sometime . The Marsh/Citron Family Feb 2018 Olathe, Kansas
The home was lovely, there was enough space for us all, and the location was great - nice quiet area. The kids had a blast in the pool. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and the accommodations. If I could have changed anything it would be: have AC installed, or at least have screens on all the windows. The main room upstairs with the kitchen/living/dining did not have any AC, and since there was no screen on the kitchen window, we could not leave it open as often as we would have liked in order to get the cross breeze, because bugs would get in. Also, one of the ceiling fans was not working. They did provide extra box fans and that helped. Despite the heat in the main living area, we liked the property and would recommend it to others.
This house was perfect for our Hawaii vacation with all our kids and grandkids. We had 9 adults and 5 kids sleeping there comfortably with 6 other family members sleeping at a nearby condo and hanging out with us at the house and pool. Our only complaints were about the air conditioning in the dining/living room/kitchen not being adequate. There was just one window unit trying to cool that whole area, which never happened. There were no Island breezes while we were there October 17-31 so opening windows didn’t help even if the kitchen windows had screens, which they didn’t. The pool also had too much foliage around it so it was hard to enter it except from the stairs. The kids would get scratched walking around it by the foliage. We did mention this to the owners and they immediately had a gardener come over and trim a bunch of it back. There is just too much of it there to begin with. The pool was great to swim in and plenty deep for the older kids and adults. The shallow end was not very accessible for the younger kids so we never used it. The kitchen was wonderful and offered everything we needed. Since we were such a large group we cooked most meals there. The walk-in pantry was awesome for storing all our dry groceries and the refrigerator was very big. There was even an espresso machine which my daughter figurered out how to use. Each of the bedrooms had their own air conditioning unit so everyone slept fine. The beds were comfortable too. There were plenty of towels for everyone. Overall this was a great rental property and the owners were very quick to address any of our complaints. The location was perfect with plenty of parking for our 3 minivans. Even though most people live without air conditioning in Hawaii when you are coming from the states for a week or two visit you don’t have time to adjust to the tropical heat. That is definitely something to consider when renting a place in Hawaii.
The house is very nice, lots of room for our party of 15. Some attention to detail is needed, holes in screens so an issue with mice and cock roaches in house. The cookware in the kitchen although plentiful is not real great. The pool area is very nice, we did find a smelly dead rat in the gardens and saw a few live rats and lots of cockroaches. The house is nicely located in a quiet neighborhood close to amenities and beaches. A rental car is a requirement. There is lots of vehicle parking room. The upstairs outdoor patio is very spacious with a nice large table. The patio furniture should be upgraded, needs new cushions. Garbage and recycle management worked out very well, lots of storage with weekly pick up of garbage. The concierge took care of taking the recycles away. The concierge was very attentive to our needs and tried to help with the rodent issues. Once we got the timer on the hot water tank figured out we had plenty of hot water. The electronics, TV, WIFI worked well. The beds were very comfortable. The bathrooms and showers came with a good supply of towels, were nice and clean. All in all a nice place, with a bit of TLC and attention to a few issues it would certainly be a five star rental.
Thank you for your review. I am glad that your like our house. The screen has been fixed. with monthly pest control service plus we spray the house for every cleaning. The bugs are common in Hawaii (tropic island) . Make sure to seal all the food and don't leave the trash in the house over night that will help a lot about the situation.
We rented Emmy and Bob house for a week for our family vacation in Hawaii. We have 14 people including 3 kids. The house was fantastic and the service was great. The house is spacious and it is very clean. Kitchens (both downstairs and upstairs) are great with everything we needed for cooking. The walk in pantry allow us to store a lot of groceries. Kids really like the pool area, we have a great time. Thank you Emmy and Bob for letting us stay at your house. We'd love to come back again.
This was the best vacation rental we have even been to. Everything was nice and spotless. Emmy and Bob have thought of everything to make your stay comfortable and enjoyable. There are tons of towels and beach gear and the beds are super comfy and there are AC units in all the bedrooms. The kitchen is well stocked. The pool and spa are very well maintained which provide us the great hangout there. It is centrally located at Kailua-Kona. You're close to the beach and shopping and just off the highway to get anywhere. We had 8 adults and 4 kids between 6 and 17, and it was perfect. Michelle is helpful and quickly responsive without being over-bearing. They really make it feel like you're staying with family. Definitely will stay here again if we get the chance.
Great Family Vacation
We had a terrific time - all ten of us. Adventures included snorkeling at 2-step. Captain Cook catamaran trip, Kopelani for great coffee and ice cream. Farmers Markets everywhere. The house worked out beautifully well for us with its four distinct social, community spaces upstairs and the kitchen that four or more could work in at once. We cooked up a storm and only went out to eat a few times. Loved swimming and lounging at the pool and dinners on the lanai. Really a superior house with lovely breezes. Didn't use the ac in the master bedroom after the first day. Thank you for providing a clean well appointed house for our family of 7 adults and 3 kids. Mahalo
