The lava and volcanoes helicopter tours are best suited for people that most want to see the lava.  Helicopter tours can get you very close to the action. Here you see the two open craters of the Kilauea Volcano (Puʻu ʻŌʻō in the foreground and Halemaʻumaʻu in the background). Most helicopters will fly almost directly over the lava in the cone! 

Many consider this luau a "Royal Hawaiian Experience." This traditional luau is held in the historic and picturesque Kamakahonu Bay and the grounds of Ahu Ena (Kamehameha-the-Great's former estate at Kailua Kona) in the garden area of the hotel. The evening begins with a shell lei greeting, picture taking and a display of Polynesian crafts and demonstrations to learn about island traditions. Torches are lit and the conch shell is blown announcing the arrival of the Hawaiian Royal Court. The Polynesian show will start soon after. 

Tihati productions present "Voyagers of the Pacific" Kona's only sunset luau. Seating starts at 5:00pm with a shell lei greeting and picture opportunities. At 6:00 pm the torch lighting and imu ceremony will begin and this is followed by the buffet, which starts at 6:15. Finally, the show will begin at 7:00pm.

Groups of Manta Rays converge nightly off of Keahole Bay to feed on the smorgasbord of phytoplankton that appear to soak up the glow given off by underwater dive lights. Enjoy a scenic sunset boat ride along the Kona coast to the manta location. In a water depth of about 25-30 feet, both snorkelers and certified SCUBA divers are able to safely view the incredible performance by the manta rays. Explore a 25 acre beautiful natural coral reef and its marine inhabitants on this 70 minute tour with 45 minutes of underwater time aboard Atlantis Submarine. A new adventure awaits you at depths up to 100 feet. Guests view the unique, fascinating natural coral reefs and their inhabitants in air conditioned comfort and safety.

Travel south 10 miles, to the best snorkel spot of the day with Body Glove. Snorkel locations are weather dependent and can include Fantasy Reef, Red Hill, Turtle Heaven or Dolphin Cove. You will have 2.5 hours of water time. Flotation devices, water toys, a 20' water-slide and fresh water showers are available to use. Here they mate, cavort and give birth to their young.

You can often see babies which were just born traveling with their mothers and learning how to dive, slap their fins or flukes and breach high into the air.

You can learn how to surf on the Big Island and some of the very best places to learn are along the Kona shoreline which is blessed with an abundance of rideable surf and there are places that have consistently good swells just perfect to learn on.
