Q: Where are your vacation rental homes located?

A: All our vacation rental homes are located in Kailua-Kona, the western side of the Big Island of Hawaii.

 

Q: How do I get to Kailua-Kona? Which airport should I fly to?

A: There are many direct flights to Kailua-Kona from the mainland United States and from Canada by Hawaiian Airlines, Alaska Air, United Airlines, and others.  Flights from other countries usually require a stop-over in Honolulu, or a mainland US airport. You will fly to Kona International Airport

 

Q:  How do I get to your rental home from the airport?

A: About 10-12 miles from Kona International airport to our houses. You will take high way 19 towards Kona downtown. We will send you the detail directions how to get to our house before your trip.

 

Q: Do you offer damage deposit or must I pay a damage insurance?

A:  You must pay damage insurance.

 

Q: What is the refund policy if I cancel my trip?

A: We have non-refundable cancellation policy. We suggest all of our guests to purchase travel insurance in case if you need to cancel your trip. We recommend http://www.insuremytrip.com for the best rate comparisons. CSA and Trip Guard provide the best rate comparison.

 

Q: How do I book my stay?

A: VRBO, HomeAway, Airbnb, Flipkey, VacationHomeRentals.com are all options for you to book your stay. However, if you book the house directly through KonaHome Vacation website, you don't have to pay other listing service fee. We guaranty you will get the best price from us.

Q: Are water and electricity included in the nightly rate?

A: Water is included in the nightly rate. But we charge $100 per night for the houses which have ACs for the electricity

 

Q: What forms of payment do you accept?

A: We accept checks, VISA and PayPal.

 

Q:  Do we need a rental car?

A: It is highly recommended you rent a car. Although downtown Kona and a few beaches are close by, it is very convenient to have a car. There are also lots of great activities at Captain Cook, Hilo, and northern Big Island that require a car to reach.

 

Q:  Is there a maximum number of people?

A:  Keauhou Hale can accommodate up to 18 people. Alii Makai can accommodate up to 24 people, Kilohana Hale can accommodate up to 17 people, and Magic Sand Beach House can accommodate up to 25 people. If you bring more guests than the number agreed under your reservation, you will be charged at the rate of $500 per person per night. Please let us know if the number in your group has increased. We will amend the agreement accordingly.

 

Q: Is there direct access to the ocean from the backyard?

A: KonaHome Beach house has the direct access to the beach.

 

Q: How do I check in? Do you do early check-ins?

A: The check in time is 4:00 pm. All of our rental houses have digital locks.  We will email you the code prior to your arrival. Early check in maybe permitted if the house is ready and must be pre-arranged with us. The additional fees for early check-in are $99 for 2:00 pm check and $299 for 12 pm check in and $399 for 10 am check in.

 

Q: When is check-out time? Can a late check-out be arranged?

A: The check out time is 11:00 am.   Late check-out may be permitted if there is no new tenant arriving the same day.  Late check-out must be prearranged with the owners.   The additional fees for late check-out are $99 for 12pm check-out, $299 for 2 pm check-out, $399 for 4pm check-out, $499 for 6:00 pm check-out and $599 for 8pm check-out.

 

Q: We want to stay for more than a month. Can this be arranged?

A:  Yes, depending on availability of the home you are looking to rent.

 

Q: Where can I buy groceries?

A: There is a KTA (supermarket) 5 minutes away from all our homes. 10 minutes north of our homes is another KTA, Island Naturals (organic market and deli), Safeway, and Walmart. Costco is also a good option for the large group

 

Q:  How close is downtown Kona from the vacation rental?

A: Downtown Kona is about a 10 minute drive, give or take 5 minutes, depending which vacation rental you are staying at.

 

Q: Can I bring pets?

A: No, there is no pets allowed at the rental houses.

 

Q: Is there AC?

A: All of our houses have AC, but not all areas of the houses have AC.

Alii Hale has 3 ACs in all the bedrooms

Lyman's Hale has 5 ACs in all the bedrooms

Sunset Paradise has 6 ACs in 6 of the bedrooms

Keauhou Hale has 6 ACs covers all the entire area in the house

Alii Makai has ACs cover all the area in the house

Kilohana Hale has ACs all through the house

Magic Sand Beach House has ACs cover all the area in the house.

KonaHome Baach House has ACs cover entire area of the house

 

 

Q: I like to work out. What exercise facilities are nearby?

A: Yes, there is a CrossFit Kona, Curves (offers workout classes), and Kona Pilates (offers pilates classes).

 

Q: What kind of electrical outlets are there?

A: The electrical outlets are standard American 110 Volt.

 

Q: Where can I buy liquor?

A: All grocery stores as well as Banyan Mart, Kona Reef Liquor & Deli, and Kona Liquor Store all sell liquor.

 

Q: How many guests are the nightly rates based on?

A: Nightly rates are based on 8 guests. If you have more than 8 people in your group, it will be $40 per additional person per night plus tax

 

Q: What is the charge for each extra guest per night?

A: $40 per person per night plus 18.42% tax

 

Q: What is the weather like on the Big Island?

A: Kailua-Kona lies on the west coast of the Big Island of Hawaii, on the ‘dry side’, whereas Hilo can be found on the windward side of the island, which is why it rains so much there. It is pretty much sunny year round. September is the wettest month of the year. The average temperature ranges from 80 to 90 degrees Fahrenheit year round.

 

Q: What is the time in Hawaii?

A: Hawaii is in the Hawaii-Aleutian Time Zone. Hawaii doesn't observe daylight saving time.

 

Q: Is smoking allowed?

A: No. Smoking is strictly prohibited and if cigarette butts are found anywhere, then you will lose your security deposit.

 

Q: Can we see the ocean from home?

A: You can see the ocean from ocean view from Alii Makai, KonaHome beach house, Magic Sand Beach house, Kilohana Hale. Only house does not have oceanview is Keauhou Hale but it is across the street from the ocean and it is right at the golf course.

 

Q: Is there internet access?

A: Yes. All of our houses have high-speed internet.

 

Q: Is there a hot tub?

A: All of our houses have a hot tub.

 

Q: Is there a BBQ grill?

A: Yes. All our homes have a BBQ grill.

Q: Do you provide accommodations for babies/infants?

A: The most of our houses have a crib and a pack n' play, we also provide high chairs
